Half the lift kit showed up today, The rest showing up tomorrow! the most important thing I need, the rear springs, didn't show up today so will start doing some small stuff tomorrow, but won't be able to do the rear end until those show up, since I need them before I can put the socks on. but it should go pretty quick, once I have the parts. at least the rear. Out to spray down everything in the front with penetrating oil again...

Penetrating oil is your friend when you are working on an XJ. When you think you have used enough, use more.

Gallons of PB Blaster and a dollar store spray bottle.
I find that Home Depot usually has the best price.

So... FedEx lost my leaf springs. Instead of shipping them with everything else from Nevada to Arizona, they sent them to Oregon (at least's the last place they knew they were at on Friday). sooooooo.....

Thats Fedex for you. Last thing they sent me was shipped from San Bernardino and had to go to Colton. Literally 5 miles apart. Took 5 days to get cause they sent it to TX first. Just keep waiting and they will show up. Sucks but not much you can do.

I've had stuff like that happen before... Like... how does that make sense. I had something on order from Payson AZ, live in Mesa, AZ, shipped it to LA and back again. Like... really?

Before:

After:

Not done on the back yet, nothing is torqued, I won't do that till the front is done and it is sitting level, and the rear brake line wouldn't come off, I may have to cut it, put a new end on it and then hook it up, the nut stripped the moment I put torque on it, and I was using the correct tool, it is pretty rusted. I hit it with some penetrating oil and will try again tomorrow. I will also start on the front end tomorrow.

took some time to update my cost sheet... It's really painful to know just how much I've spent on this thing to not even have driven it yet...

I can't help but laugh at the amount of money we spend on our Jeeps.
Mine was just supposed to be a simple little refresh.
Somewhere along the line it got out of control.
I justify it by telling myself that my Jeep is my hobby in retirement.
Laugh even more when new people come here with a Jeep they just bought.
Indicating what they would like to do to it and saying they have a budget of "X" amount of dollars.
My advice is usually to take the budget you set and throw it right out the window right now. LOL.
