99 XJ build- Maine
Hey guys here is what I have going on mine so far.
Got it a year ago with 120000 miles on it. Its got the 4.0. Here it is before I did anything.
First thing I did was a Rough country 3" full leaf lift.
Then i got 31x10.50 BFG A/T tires
It has a Dynomax super turbo muffler, not to loud and not to quiet.
Here is a shot of it in the woods before the snow came down.
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures.
Here it is as of now.
What I'm working on now is my front bumper. I have a 6x3 3/16's piece of steel and some 1/4 steel for my mounting brackets. I have bushwacker flares on the way also. I plan to do a 6.5 RC long arm lift in the next few months also, because I am going to scrap metal and will have some extra cash
What do you guys think?

Those headlight covers have been bouncing around in the back for a while. Not sure I like them either. I would suggest a 4.5 though if you ever plan to go higher. I regretted not going bigger on my lift. But then again I always think I need to do something to it
Wheels are Crager soft 8's 15x8 with 4" backspacing. heres the link if you want it. http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-wh...-397-5x4.5.htm

Got my bushwacker cut out flares installed today. A lot more work then I thought in the rear. Also I have my new bumper mounts ready and will be making my bumper this weekend. I will have pictures when I finish. Just knocking off a few things of the mile long list of stuff to do to the XJ

I have the rough shape of the bumper welded together, but I still need to purchase more metal for it to wrap around under the fenders. I painted my grill black. I don't remember where I saw it on the forums, but I had to make it look pissed while I was at it. I'll take photos with a real camera to show the bushwackers, mounting brackets, etc.. I also have 4.5 " lights to put in the bumper, that I got at a local big rig store. And d rings.
Did find a issue though. My passenger front wheel tilts in at the top. I think the C part of the axle where the ball joints are is bent. So I either need to find a shop that can bend it back without heating it, or I need a axle swap. suggestions? I don't want my tire to wear the wrong way, and plus it pushes to the left when driving.

Hey guys, Looks like I'm going to get a new axle. Should I just get another Dana 30 or should I get a beefier one? Suggestions would be helpful.
Also got bored around town and found Burger kings new playground.... flexs like a dump truck with sway bars.

Nice so far. And we're not too far apart: Im about 2 hours north of you. Any chance youd part with the old hub caps from the stock wheels? Id KILL for a pair or set.

and i want to go bigger, but considering im a sophomore in high school and dont have enough $ for all the goodies you have to buy to complete the 4.5 kit (bigger tires, brake lines, sye, full leafs, etc)and wont be doing any heavy wheeling, just mudding and trail riding- the 3'' rc aal is perfect for me. probably gonna trim, buy 2'' shackles and spacers and then fit 32s under it so it will sit at 4'' or so (hopefully), which isnt bad at all imo.
if i were you, id just get some shackles and spacers to get a little higher, but it looks good none the less!

Beefier axle definitely. Get a late model XJ Chrysler 8.25, it's almost as strong as a Dana 44, you'll regret not getting a stronger one when that little D30 snaps D:

I have a 8.25 in the rear. But what years have them in the front? and will it just all bolt up? There arent any pick and pulls around here, just salvage yards with near gutted vehicles and they have all the parts.

A Dana 30 is a front axle and a Chrysler 8.25" is a rear axle.
Go with a D30 again and truss it before installing it and that should be plenty for most wheeling.

Truss is a good idea. The only reason i bent this axle was because of hitting a big rut with rock in it going a little to fast. Thanks guys, to the salvage yard!
