99 classic
Very nice xj, wiclassic !! .... I am planning to have a cherokee in my driveway within a couple weeks, for my second vehicle, daily driver. I just sold my old z71 pickup truck, and I'm getting myself a cherokee, after researching, and discovering how kick a$$ these things are. After lurking on this forum for the past few days, trying to get ideas of which years is best, and what my ultimate goal is for builing a daily driver, but capable xj. After stumbling apon this thread, and seeing your cherokee, I bookmarked this thread, because your cherokee is exactly what I want, with the same amount of lift & tire size. I have scene endless pictures of other peoples xj builds, and without a doubt, your xj is the nicest looking that I have come across IMHO anyways.
Maybe I missed the reason, but why did you remove the top roof rack carrier ? I thought it looked sick with it on from the first pics you put up, of it ?
I live in southern ontario, canada, and have been reading alot about certain types of lockers should'nt be used if you might be driving were snow might be encountered. What type of locker are you running, and is it in the front or rear ? How does it make driving in the snow ?
You definetely have yourself one of the nicest looking cherokee builds, that I have ever scene.
What are your next plans ? armour ?different bumpers ? rear bumper spare tire mount ? winch ? egine/exhaust upgrades ?
Have you taken it off road yet ?.... With a total of 5 inches more ground clearance, locker, and a/t tires, it must be a day-night difference ?
17mpg, with a lift and 31's, sounds pretty good actually.... my goal is to have a cherokee exactly like yours (99 classic & same green colour), but I plan of putting a cold air intake, tb spacer, upgraded spark, and header/exhaust upgrade, so my cherokee will get more mpg.... Since I travel 25mins each way to work, and gas prices are only going up, my goal is to get 20mpg, and with the upgrades I plan on doing, I have read that a lifted dd cherokee will get 20mpg, which is like having your cake and eating it too.

Ok, after 2 1/2 weeks in the shop I have my Jeep back. New motor from ATK, Banks Header, Magnaflow Hi flow cat and also cat back system, New starter, alternator, hi flow water pump and thermostat also replaced stock valve cover wheel hub bearings and outer front u-joints. The shop gave me a Toyota Prius to drive. I am so glad to give back that gas sucking car and go back to driving a Jeep
The exhaust system sounds great.
