Default 99 Cherokee Sport Lift

Im a new jeep owner, bought it this week actually. Plan on lifting it and putting bigger tires on it. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to do.

A little searching will answer most of your questions. You will find searching to give you a faster answer then asking it. Jeep on!

IMO, if you're relatively new to wheeling, I'd wheel it stock or only with a mild lift to start out with. If you haven't owned an XJ before (which I'm guessing you haven't based on this post), start with the basic stuff first like skid plates, rock sliders, recover gear etc. Big lifts are fun, but a stock or BB lifted Cherokee will go places that you wouldn't believe if you weren't there. I don't care how much lift you have on your XJ, skid plates are always a good idea. Recovery gear is imperative too because you know that there is ALWAYS gonna be someone who needs you to pull them out. There's also a slim chance that you might get stuck too. (yes, that was a joke).

Anyhow, if you decide to try a budget lift for a little extra ground clearance and to fit bigger tires, a spacer/shackle budget lift can be had for under $100 usually.

Again, this is just MY opinion and I certainly encourage you to do what ever makes YOU happy. You're the one that's gotta drive it. But I will leave you with one last thought... no amount of lift can make up for a lack of experience and skill.
