Default New rear driveshaft

The new rear driveshaft came yesterday and I got it installed today. It is a substantial amount heavier duty.

That shaft will not work with a SYE kit. It has no slip on the axle end. It is also different then the one you posted earleyer in the thread. Did they send you the wrong shaft or jsut misinform you on what you were actually getting?

The picture I posted was the one they had listed for sale, just as a similar example. I had the new one made to slip on the existing shaft from the tansfer case. I edited the previous post so it is more clear.

Then why the heck would you pay for a custom driveshaft? I'm sorry but you just basically threw a couple hundred(or more) dollars away. don't take this the wrong way but that was a really stupid move. the slip joint on the output of the transfer case is known to be a less than optimal design, thats why most people install SYE kits and a CV driveshaft with the slip-joint integrated into the driveshaft.

I have several friends with Jeeps with more lift than mine and they have retained their stock driveshaft and have no problems. You are correct about the SYE being better, I got this driveshaft for less than half of what a SYE/driveshaft combo costs and it works great. This being my only vehicle and daily driver it will most likely not see any extreme situations for quit sometime. I had seriously thought from the begining about the SYE but after installing the lift and having no problems and only a very minor vibration at low speed the new driveshaft took care of it. I plan on building up a bigger and better 2 door eventually and am going to go with an Atlas transfer case instead of purchasing a SYE and adding it to the factory transfer case.

The coil over spacers came yesterday and I hope to get them installed this weekend. They are bigger than I thought they would be from looking at the pictures. They are pretty self explanitory and the instructions seem easy enough.

I got the coil over spacers installed yesterday and it was a lot easier than I expected. Resting on jack stands and the front end hanging I was able to remove the coil springs no problem. The only modification was having to cut off the end of the old bump stop and tap it for the new one. The coil spring compressor I got was the wrong kind and I was unable to use it to remove the springs but luckily I could just pry up on them and slide them out. The drivers side was the easiest and the passenger side was a little more difficult haveing to negotiate around more stuff. After the new spacers were in I used the spring compressor to suck the spring down and then used some strapping with holes in it to keep them in place and was able to slide them right back in. All in all it took about 3 hours and I forgot that I needed a tap so that took some time waiting on someone to bring me one.

The front now sets level with the back and that is without adjusting the spacer at all.

New RE upper control arms should be here any day now. It turn's out that the fixed control arms are discontinued so I am going with the adjustable ones.

The upper control arms finally came in today. Not sure if Rubicon Express has a lot of stuff on back order but I ordered these over a month ago.
