99 2 DOOR XJ
To start off, I looked for a few years before I found one of these. It seems like everyone wants an arm and a leg or they have been to the moon and back mileage wise. This is the 4th Jeep I have had and the first XJ. I have used this forum many times for reference and I just got registered on here so a lot of stuff I have already done to it but there is still more to come.
I started with a 1999 2 door XJ with the 4.0 and automatic transmission. It has the Dana 30 front and the 8.25 rear. It also has the 242-J transfer case.
New stuff
- Rubicon Express 3.5 inch Superflex lift with all new springs and monotube shocks
- Skyjacker transfer case lowering kit, possibly installing soon
- Rubicon Express steering stabilizer
- AFE Magnum Force Stage 2 Intake System
- Rockcrusher front and rear differential covers
- Unique 297 15x8 black steel wheels
- 31 x 10.50 BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A
- Front bumper from Logans Metal Products in PA (got this on Ebay after looking for quit some time at different ones. The fit is perfect and was probably the easiest thing to install)
- I made the rear bumper myself
- All trim was removed including fender flares and rear corner pieces and undercoated (this was definetly a good idea as a lot of debris collects behind them somehow) I also removed the cargo rack on top
- New exhaust from just in front of the convertor and a Flowmaster muffler
- JKS rear shackles
- Tatton's Rear double cardan driveshaft
- JKS adjustable coil over spacers
- Hoop to front bumper
- Rubicon Expres upper control arm's, ordered installing soon
Still to come
- Warn winch - ordered
- Some type of roof rack, maybe
- Still thinking about a SYE (there is no vibration when excelerating and none at desired speed so that will probably be my winter/spring project if need be)
- Lights for bumper
- Fender flares are a possibility even though it looks good with none
- Optima battery
- Rock sliders, just got the metal and will be making them soon
- Tire carrier
- Exhaust from block back, probably one of the last things I will do
Heres a few before and after pictures.

Maybe, right now this is more on than off-road but I am looking at getting another one for a little wilder build or when this one isnt my daily driver anymore I might swap the front and rear end for heavier duty ones and put in an Atlas transfer case.

Here's some pictures after the wheels were installed a week ago and after all trim was removed and undercoated. I should have the winch installed in the next week or so.........before the bad weather sets in.

It is a piece of 4 inch pipe I got from work, pretty thick walled and I just welded caps on the ends. A lot od people dont realize how, not necessarily cheap but thin and non-heavy-duty the original parts are on vehicles until they start tearing them down.
