98 Game Green XJ Build
How's it going guys, my name is Bobby and this thread will document my XJ build. It's a 1998 Cherokee Sport 4.0. I friggin love it. I wanted this color so bad, I can not begin to express it to you.
Here are the AutoTrader pics from when I found it:
I didn't plan on doing much to it, but I caught the bug quickly after checking out this forum and the Rusty's site. So I started cleaning it up and doing some basic mods.
I upgraded the entire sound system, Aiwa Headunit, Bazooka 6.5" Speakers in the headliner, Boss 5 1/4" Speakers in the doors, SPX 1000watt Amp, and SPX 10" Subwoofers in port-tuned box. VERY LOUD and VERY cheap!
I don't have any pics of the speakers, but here is the setup in the hatch, I plan on building a new box and a single 12" sub, along with some kind of drawer setup for storage. Working on plans now.

The stock fenders/door handles/door moldings/bumper ends were all faded grey, this was bothering me so I picked up some of this Forever Black and it worked EXCELLENT.
I HIGHLY recommend this product for anyone with the faded fenders, etc. It brought the life right back to all the exterior plastics. I also added a hitch shackle and removed the factory pin-striping.

I then moved to the performance/tune-up of the 4.0. I changed the oil, spark plugs, cap, rotor and added some high performance wires. I also relocated the Air Intake Temp Sensor to the Factory air-box.
Added a K&N panel filter after much debate of the typical 'short-ram' style.
I bought a Helix Throttle Body Spacer as well.
With these mods I saved a few MPG, nothing major, but there is a difference. It also pulls much smoother, I am very satisfied.

I was lucky enough to find one with the factory skids. Engine, Gas Tank, and Transfer Case.
The front bumper looked a little tacky with the lower air dams, plus I was missing the center piece, so I grabbed the dremel and hacked the bottoms off, looks a lot cleaner now. I'll prob trim the ends after I get the tires/lift.

My muffler rusted out, so I hacked it off and put a straight pipe in place of it for now. It's VERY loud, sounds mean but it's obnoxious.
I plan on ordering the DynoMax Cat-Back soon because of the rebate they are doing. But I'm really just putting money aside for the lift and tires. My plans are as follows:
-Rusty's 3" Spring Pack Kit
-Cragar Soft 8's
-31x10.5 M/T Tires
-APN Header
-Lockers
-Roof Basket
This is my daily driver, it will rarely see trails with my work schedule, but when it does I want it fully capable. Should be ordering the lift soon, so I will keep you guys posted!

That's sweet as hell that your building this. I am doing the excat thing with my brothers jeep right now. You should build an intake system for that jeep it's under 60$. Mine and my brothers jeep have them and it's excellent. But keep up the good work I'll be watching.
