I'm mostly throwing this together but will refine it as I go. I picked up this unwanted 96 black XJ auto. My goal is to create an XJ as if it had been developed by TeamViper/PVO as it should have been! It needs to be relatively fast, reliable and affordable.
The engine seems to be in good condition so for now no rebuild required. I have all my turbo parts together except air intake and intercooler. Intercooler position has yet to be determined but I'm leaning toward cutting into the bumper.
I still need to purchase gauges, a boost controller, a trans cooler, injectors, a catch can and a few other pieces.
Nice! That will be a good size turbo for quick spooling. I am running a 58mm on a 2.0L and it still makes 20 psi by 3500 rpm. I would imagine yours should start seeing boost around 2000 rpm. Should be a fun little setup!
I have 4 different exhaust housings to help adjust the spool up I need. There is a 12cm, a 10cm (the one I'm going to try first) an 8cm (that I've run on a 5 speed with good results) and a 6cm.
I am shooting for 5psi by 2000 rpm without choking to much of the top end.
The 10cm housing will be fine. Should be fine to about 300 whp. Mine is 10.5. How many blades are on the exhaust wheel? I just cut down to a 9 blade to see what it does to spool and back pressure.
This is very exciting. subscribing for sure. ive read some of your other stuff, and am looking to turbo my 4.0 in the next year ish. so ill be following.
