Default 96 Minnesota XJ Build

Hey guys im pretty new to modding Jeeps but always mod everything I touch so why leave this alone! Haha Im going to use this build to show everyone what im doing and ask questions if I run into any issues

Well its a 1996 Cherokee Sport with 154,000 I picked it up from a girl who owned it the last 10+ years and she took pretty good care of it. It has some issues here and there ill be working and have already started a little.

Here's how she looked the day I got her...

Then I got some 2001 Classic wheels, tinted the windows and cleaned up a few things on the outside.

Suspension was completely shot so I picked up a Zone 3" lift kit

And after busting *** all weekend here's how she sits today!

So now as you can see it needs some wheels! Im leaning towards these Ion Alloy 17x8 with some 33-35s that im undecided on.

Well that's about all I have for now but I will keep updating.

Yeah what MC said! That thing is clean for a MN Jeep. I would know grew up in the Twin Cities and spent 15 years or so in Alexandria before I moved out here to Spokane, WA. They are tons cleaner out here seeing they don't use salt on the roads in the winter. Fact my 89' would be a rusted out hulk of crap back in MN. Where in MN you located at?

Ok guys im having some front end issues along with the driveshaft. One reason I went with the 3" lift is I was told I wouldnt need to lower the transfer case but it seems its at such an extreme angle that I wont have a choice? There is a terrible vibration when im on the gas and when I let off the rear end makes bad noise. Im going to replace the U-joints first and see if that takes care of it otherwise I suppose order the transfer case lowering kit unless you guys have some ideas?

Now on to the big issue here, so during the first test drive I am hearing scraping/rubbing from the front drivers side which I assume is an easy fix I probably just need to get in there and see what it is then adjust it. But the scary thing here is when I took it out on the freeway I was traveling about 45mph coming up on a bridge, when I got to the bridge I hit a little bump like you normally do from the transition from blacktop to concrete. Well my front end started shaking so violently I thought the fron end was going to fall off! I slammed on the brakes and moved to the shoulder to inspect and didnt see anything wrong. I got back on the freeway and everything seemed fine till I got to another bridge and the same thing happened. This thing is clearly not road worthy yet lol.

So im basically stumped here as to what this may be? Im hoping someone here has ran into this issue and can shed some light. Im thinking maybe it just needs a good alignment?

Thanks in advance for any help I really appreciate it.

Yeah Ive been digging around here trying to find solutions. It looks like the track bar might be the best thing to start with?

An alignment would be a good place to start. I had to get one and do a tc drop after installing my zone kit.

i wouldnt drive it unless you have to i found i can almsot judge when the wobble is going to happen and hit the throttle to drive out of it never want to hit the breaks when your in wobble just makes it more violent this goes for towing expirence bst thing to do is throttle it or or ride it to a stop imo

dont waste your money on alignment till you have all lift and tire components on that you want more than likely somthing is ild and wore out rubber bushings dont last long regardless of miles
