Well I think Warn is buying the name anymore. And Warn's aren't built like they used to be. You can't beat the old uprights, those things will PULL!

But for what I'm using it for i don't need something that can take a beating.

That's probably true, but as least there assembled in Clackamas still. Yeah you should be more than good with that.

So i have been doing some research on winches. I am going to be buying one next week. I really don't know what I want or how much winch I need. I want to spend under $500 and I have pretty much narrowed it down to a few.

My first question is has anyone had or heard anything about the "badlands winches" from harbor freight. A 12k is only $400. But i don't want to get something that is complete ****.

For 100 dollars more i can get a 12k smittybilt XRC12. From what i have heard is the smittybilts are damned good winches and pull hard. I would rather have more than I need other than not enough.

Would a 12k be overkill? As i said i would rather have too much than not enough.

So i guess my last question is how much winch do i need?

Have you used it? How does it hold up/work? How much have you used it?

Sorry for the questions. But one thing i definately don't like about it is the wire routing. was that the only way to do it?

At this point, considering the amount of reviews, popularity, and the minimal price difference. I think my mind is set on the Smittybilt. I just can't decide what size i need.

I realize my jeep only weighs 4500 pounds but when spending money on something like this, I don't mind over-killing it a little bit.

What about the Warn VR Series?

Reliability at an affordable price...

But out of those choices, i'd probably go with the 10k winch. Just a little rightfully over-kill.

Hey dustin I just bought the 9k badlands. Had to do a little respooling cause it got. Un spooled under neath. Put my jeep in neutral hooked up my gramps pick up and it pulled my jeep just fine. Get a 2 year warrenty too. Can get it replaced easily!

I was being sarcastic, I know what it is. LSU simply outplayed us last night. LSU was the better team last night.
