Picked up a a roof rack from 2008infantry at a decent price. Its an EMT tubing and Thule cross bars homebrew roof rack with Pro Comp 100 lights ready for wiring. Saved me a bit of time in building a rack. Plan on taking it apart and changing a few small things. Overall, I'm very happy with the addition.

Shackle Relocation Bracket?

So, today I noticed that one of my rear bumper mount bolts was making contact with the extended shackle. Not sure if its because of rear spring sag or what, but today I pulled that bolt along with the rear sway bar.

Currently my rear shackle sits about 70 deg from the stock rear leaf spring. Also, when loaded up for a beach trip or camping trip the rear end sags quite a bit (as shown in the pic above). I'm wondering if an HD shackle relocation kit is in order.

What do you all think?

Looks good to me, I am in the same boat, I just went with 3" with 31s. Saves some money being able to avoid changing out a lot of steering and driveline parts. I am planning on doing a rack pretty soon.

The sagging is probably from your stock leafs being weak, a cheap remedy for this is look up bastard pack leaf springs or if money isn't a problem go ahead and get a new full leaf pack set.

Looking at an OME set of leafs and coil springs. Debating on going higher but don't think its really necessary with this build. This is my DD and family beach cruiser. BTW, I do feel awesome every day I drive this 80's Jeep. "Jeep Cherokee", my child hood dream car. Yep, I'm weird.

Anything bigger than 31s + 3.55 gears will suck up too much gas for daily driving and long trips. Long trips on Oahu? LOL

I can add some OME front spring with the BB spacers and Long OME shocks for a total of 3.5" lift up front and and match the rear with the appropriate OME leafs plus 1.5" shackle. Shackle relocation bracket may be in order depending on the shackle angle.

Still deciding what route to go.....

When I go big it will be an MJ. I've wanted one since I was a kid.

4 months later....

Finally took some time to work on the Jeep.

New mods:
Optima Battery Yellow Top
1.5" Wheel Spacers
Bushwacker Flat Fenders
(I'll upload pictures soon)

Popped the valve cover to swap out the gasket and this is what I found.

Got sludge?

1/8" to 1/2" thick sludge everywhere. Frak! I'm not even sure where to start cleaning this mess.

You should really think about a new leaf spring lift kit..
I have a 88 limited and can tell you this about them.
When developing the limited package and conducting focus groups it was determined that people would like a less truck like and more of a car like ride. SO the engineers, In their infinite wisdom, decided to put a lighter duty set of lief springs in the Limited edition Cherokees of then eighty's. I am pretty sure they did this by using sprigs with one less lief..
Those lief springs had much more flex and equaled a softer ride. Even tho many were sold with a factory tow package they still had that light duty set of springs and would get real close to bottoming out if they trailered something with a significant tong weigh. Mine always did.
Anyway, every one I known who had stock springs from the old Limiteds had at-least one of them break. The passenger side one on mine broke in 99 or 2000 I forget. When Chrysler discontinued the limited edition they never used that lighter spring pack again, and when they brought back the Limited package in the late ninety's they didn't go for the lighter spring pack again. I think they learned their lesson.

Just something to think about if you got stock springs on that baby.

Really good to know. My last Jeep, 89' Laredo (AKA Pineapple Crushah Brah), took a hell of a beating when I bajaed it at Dole Plantation 12 years ago. This Limited rides way different. Maybe the springs. IDK.

Looking at getting a Shackle Relocation kit to fix my shackle angel and level her out a bit.

Then some OME Shocks and Suspension Phase 1 will be complete.

New Springs and bigger tires will be a part of Phase 2... some day....
