Default 4WD Build Up

OK, I know there has been many topics about 2wd to 4wd. I have done research. All I seem to find are people saying dont do it. It cost too much. Well I have a wrecked xj 4wd that works perfect and am able to get a 2wd for real cheap. Does anyone know what is all envoled? I am not worried about the work that part is not that big a deal. And I have all the parts. So, any info so I can build me a new play toy would be great.
