Jeep looks good. How do you like the Viair system? I've been looking at their 2 on 2 setup and a Painless Dual battery system for mine. Ultimately, I wanna run all accessories of a second battery. Also, thanks for adding the info about the Durango alternator. How much of a pain was that upgrade? Anything special to swap like belts or pulleys?
Durango install wasn't bad. I had help from a guy here on the forum that had done it before. Took us probably like an hour? And nothing changed with the pulleys or belts. I do remember that the pulley on the durango alternator was like 1/4" wider than stock belt, but we put it on the top notches of the pulley and it didn't have any issues.

Taking some time to get everything built on this steering set up. 1 step forward, 2 steps back. Need some advice--read below:
Looking for some forum help. My tie rod end hits my wheel. I believe my wheels have 4.75" bs but even with that it looks like I'm going to need to run spacers. I'm not a fan of spacers, so I'm wondering if other people have run into this problem before? Thanks in advance!
This might be my favorite jeep picture in a long time for my rig. My brakes were quite likely the worst of any xj especially with the amount of weight I'd been carrying. Got yellowstuff pads/rotor set up. They were not cheap but the reviews on this forum were great.
Just getting it under the jeep

Looking nice. Did you resolve the rod from hitting tire? I got 1.75" spacers when I got 33" x 12.5" tires. Runs great on hway and city.

Can you tell me what spacers you went with? Quadratec recommended Teraflex 1.25" spacers that total $252. I'm not going to buy a lesser product, but I'd gotta imagine there is a better priced product. Thoughts?

I guess my sarcasm didn't shine through in my response. All of the axle is built by a friend and me. We bought all the tubing from barnes4wd.com. They were very helpful in getting me the right parts. It's our first time doing this which is why it's taking a while. The only thing we haven't purchased new is a track bar. That is still my adjustable track bar from my previous steering set up. Once everything gets tightened down we will figure out if it will still work, or if we need to do the conversion for a better situation in there. Hoping it'll be wrapped up in the new week or two.

I don't know if that is ideal for the new steering geometry that I'm building. Most people go with another straight tube with modified brackets to achieve the more parallel lines. http://www.stinkyfab.com/jeep-steeri...-xj-mj-zj.html is 1 option I've seen out there. A bit pricey so I'm trying to search for others. I know I saw another similar option but I can't find the link at the moment.

Well at least your clayton bar is lifetime warranty! Though track bars are pretty heavy duty and I would be surprised at anyone breaking one unless it was the heim joint.
That setup from stinkyfab looks interesting but yea expensive.

It's less about breaking the part and more about bumpsteer with the adverse angles I'm creating by leaving it. I'll need to do more research with people who did grand cherokee conversions and no changes to the track bar.

Hey everyone - I have gone back and forth on selling this jeep for a while now. The wife and I are buying a house and I think this toy is going to be collateral damage from that. Right now I am finishing up the new track bar install and then reinstalling the front sway bar brackets to completely finish up the front. After that, I am having the entire roof cut off and replaced with my donor roof to 100% rid the jeep of rust. After that is done I will be putting the jeep officially up for sale. If anyone is interested or has friends that are interested please let me know. I've had this project for over 5 years so it'll be sad to see it go, but hopefully it will go to someone that will use it for its intended purposes!
