Default 2000 XJ Limited Daily Driver "Build"

I've been lurking for about a year and figure it was time to contribute.

So this thing's not gonna go crazy high since it's my DD and I have to travel 300 miles once a month. But I'm going to try and do a Budget Boost and get some bigger tires if the current ones ever wear out. Feels like it's takin forever.

I'm in North Florida which is flat and has no rocks. All we have are logging roads and mud holes. So she'll be built with that in mind. No rock climbing here

So anyways she's a 2000 Limited XJ. I've had her about a year. Found it on Craigslist at a dealer, was pretty clean and bone stock. When I took it for a test drive I noticed a funny sound coming from below when getting up to speed. I thought it might be in the rear end so I talked them down on price and drove it home. Turns out it was the output bearing in the transfer case (NP242). For now I've just disconnected the front drive shaft. The plan is to get a rebuild kit and fix it as soon as funding allows. My Father in Law is a Mechanic with his own shop. So that has been handy.

Here's what I've done so far mechanically and cosmetically:
1. Paint Jeep emblems flat black. Chrome was peeling.
2. Build Front bumper brow and mount fog lights
3. Install new Sony head unit and speakers
4. Install new headliner
5. Mount mini maglight near shifter
6. Mount off road lights onto bar mounted on factory luggage rack
7. Installed 784 injectors (what a difference!)
8. Removed front seats and did some serious deep cleaning. The space between the seats and console was really funky and I could never get the vacuum to reach. Carpet looks brand new.
9. While seats were out I painted the legs that attach to floor pan, they were rusty.
10. Diamond plate fuel door cover courtesy of forum member Choo_31

My Plans are as follows:
1. 2-3" budget boost
2. 245 x 75 x 16 mud tires
3. Minor front bumper trimming?
4. Hood vents?
5. Roof rack?
6. Replace cheap fog lights with KCs
7. Upgrade headlights
8. Black out or Diamond front turn signals
9. Tail light guards
10. ??????????????????

Here she is as she sits now.

That's it for now until time and budget allow more mods.

Nice Jeep! Reminds me of mine. You should do the clear turn signals, would go good with the silver theme. Looks really clean to. I have a light bar similar to yours.

Thanks man. Yes I saw your picture. Looks good. I like the 3" lift. Did you go all the way with TCase drop, longer shocks and brake lines?

I did not do the tcase drop, didn't need it with 3", will be doing longer brake lines, and did do all new shocks. The RC 3" series 2 comes with add a leafs, coil springs, control arms, 4 shocks. Don't remember what else came with though. Very satisfied though. Have had it for over 3000 miles and so far so good.
