Still waiting on a package from the east coast, but it's stuck out there with the crappy weather. I was hoping to get stuff done this weekend, but it's just not going to happen.

Get it done and head out to WF! Pepper was looking good when I saw you out on 251.

================================================== =

Had two packages waiting on my porch when I got home today.

The arms are a custom length since the crossmember is set further forward on 84-86 XJs.

Painted the uppers tonight. Tomorrow I'll go after the rest.

Now I need to wait for an open lift on a free weekend.

Here's my official list of crap I need to get done before WF:
  1. Install 231
  2. Figure out rear drive shaft
  3. Figure out front drive shaft
  4. Install long arms
  5. Install coils
  6. Limit straps for front
  7. Re-do bumpstops
  8. Install new winch
  9. Install longer front brake hoses
  10. Install shocks
  11. Install track bar and bracket from off of the ZJ
  12. Replace or rebuild leaf springs
  13. Check fluids
  14. Shake down suspension
Time to kick it into high gear.

Finished painting everything up over the past couple of days. Now I just need to get everything installed.

I also spent today playing bodyman. I ended up cutting the left fender so I could beat the front area straightish. My '86 header panel is useless, so I swapped over to a '92 header I had laying around. No more 10 slot, which makes me sad.

I just have the grille and headlight bezels sitting in there for now. I want to pull them back off and paint them the same black as my fenders.

I also ordered a set of Otto-Max 4.5" leaf springs from Clayton. They should hopefully be here tomorrow. If all goes according to plan, I'll have the lift installed this weekend. After that, I need to get driveshafts made for it.

Can you say moneeeeey pitttttt.....

It snowed today. So I worked out in the snow.

Cut the right fender

Bent this corner over and worked the metal a bit. I have no idea if it would of ever hit here, but call me proactive.

Painted the bezels and grille. Finished installing everything on the header panel. In the future I plan on running tube from the a-pillar out to the bumper (not my current one).

Leafs came in today as well.

So far tomorrow looks like a go.

Still got a lot to do to it, but she's on all fours. I'll have to take it back to the shop hopefully next weekend to finish it up. Not much for pictures today, far too busy getting **** done.

It's nice when I get the space, but it's not often. I worked on the jeep outside on the trailer yesterday. Definitely not warm. I got a warm garage to do a little work in tonight and then back to the shop next weekend. Come spring I'm having the floor poured in the pole barn and a lift is going in. I'm tired of burning favors over the winter.

Thought I'd post some pics up of where things are at currently.

231 install went perfect. I had wanted to try using a YJ tcase shifter, since it doesn't have the zgate crap and frankly, I like it better than the XJ one. No dice though. The shifter pops up right where the trans linkage is. Too bad, guess I'll have to make my own linkage.

The shocks I'm running are going to limit my up travel, but I'm going to have butt loads of droop. I'll run them for now and if I don't like how they work, I'll swap them out for something else.

I measured my caster using the gojeep method and right now I'm sitting at 1*. Definitely needs some improvement. I also installed my old front ds to get Rattletrap mobile. I think it should work, but next weekend when I'm at the shop again, I'll cycle the suspension to verify.

The stock brake hoses are obviously too short, so I picked up a pair of C1500 hoses. I moved the mounting brackets up the hose to take advantage of the length.

I also ordered up a Ruff Stuff 3/4" heim steering kit last night. Hopefully, it'll come in this week and I can get started on that as well.

Today I'm hoping to get the brake hoses installed, fix my shackle angle, and install my winch. I'm using a friends heated garage tonight, so we'll see what really gets done.

Updated list:
  1. Install 231 - done
  2. Figure out rear drive shaft
  3. Figure out front drive shaft
  4. Install long arms - done
  5. Install coils - done
  6. Limit straps for front
  7. Re-do bumpstops
  8. Install new winch
  9. Install longer front brake hoses
  10. Install shocks - done
  11. Install track bar and bracket - done
  12. Replace or rebuild leaf springs - done
  13. Check fluids
  14. Shake down suspension
  15. Fix caster
  16. Install steering

Never got around to going to my friends place. Kind of wish I had, since the weathers been so damn cold again. Bought some reservoir isolators for my shocks and a tree strap last night. Also picked up a 6 position chip for the tow pig. Pockets are feeling a bit on the empty side today.

Steering kit came in today!

The dog was hoping for a giant rawhide, she was slightly disappointed.

Also ordered a Novak shifter yesterday. Hoping to work on the Jeep some more over the weekend. It's still stuck on the trailer.
