howdy! i am new to this forum, and jeeps in general.
so i got a 1999 sport with less then 30k miles. insane right? anyways i want to know what kind of engine mods i could do on this baby, its the auto 4wd model. also any thing like glass packs etc. i am still in school currently so tight on money but ideas are appreciated!

 

Welcome! I'm in school too, so money is always an issue. I just put 31s on mine, it's all stock and I have a 3 inch rustys lift kit waiting to go on. As far as engine mods, I put a new one it because the old one cracked at around 130k miles. I'm not real familiar with engine mods... Yet.

 

If you wanna nicer sound outta the exhaust, id just straight pipe it. Free, easy, and it sounds great. Youd need to live in a emissions free county though.

 

You won't get much out of it as far as performance goes. Without internal engine work you're pretty much limited to:

-cowl intake
-full free flowing exhaust
-4 hole injectors

Those will probably get you most of what you will get. Other than that, bigger throttle body, cams, head work, money, money, stroker.

 

Check all your plastic parts in the engine bay, most jeeps at this point have brittle plastic in there. Check all the rubber for dry rot, radiators can break at the seam so check that. All sorts of upgrades I believe you can put in a zj power steering pump, swap a broken ac system for a onboard air system. Drill a hole into the firewall and do a cold air intake from there. It also helps with water clearence.
