Yes, what I did was leave enough wiring so when I take that part off I'm not all bound up and as far as the map light goes....it comes in handy at night, it lights up the area just enough to see what you need to see out of the corner of your eye "ashtray, radio mike, phone, etc." without interfering with your driving.
