Well I found and ordered 2 Jeep logo center caps for my rims and now their complete. When at a dealer I looked at a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Classic that had the factory fog lights and looked under to see the bumper is shorter than the 84-96 and that the end caps hang over for the lights to fit properly. So I'll be looking for the 01 Bumper and maybe the matching back bumper, as they match the endcaps. the 84-96 have a matching bumper too with its endcaps. My plan is to get the exterior done and have the interior ready, Looking for the 97-01 dash "Charcole Black"

A question for the doors not hatch, If I get the 4 01 doors, Do I have to remove just the latch on the inside of my current doors?

And for the interior, where do I find matching black carpet, I don't think the grayish blue will match in mine.

I did some asking around about some people swaping there 84-96 dash for a 97-01 and the resalts came to, Alot of time and work. Want a 97-01 dash in your 84-96 XJ without doing the entire Dash swap and very light wiring Such as a simple radio installment.
I came up with the plan. Im not in the habet of messing with my cluster and such, So I came up with alittle project.
http://img220.imageshack.us/i/rdone.jpg/ "Note that this is just pasted in pictures for a refrence"

Really just need the Center console dash bezel, with its inserts "AC controller, Cig outlet" It lines up perfectly next to the cluster in the image, I pasted the exact size parts in the image. Next is the glovebox, Its sepret from the main dash, but the very bottom strip. Cutting: Only cut the bought parts to fit your current installment dash, such as the console dash bezel for fit in. Now you can mod/cut the bezel the orginally goes around the steering wheel/radio, AC, As its a easy replacement part, just unscrew and take out. I will get into the glovebox/ side air vent later on. The Center Air vent Up/Down can be up to you too fill it in or leave it there as an extra AC sorce.

To complete with the 01 Dash, I bought myself the center console aswell, I have solid cup holders now, the other one I have that fits over the E brake is flimsy and held on with 2 screws, but hey Its still a very good thing and installment, plus you got cup holders.

Heres a Picture I took with the center bezel leaning in its spot. You can see how well it lines right up next to the Cluster.
Just waiting for the Glovebox side to come in now.

Another comment I'd like to add, insted of getting the OHC "Over Head Console" How well would a Mirror work?
I'm looking to get the Temp/Compass in my Cherokee. We use to have a Blue 2000 Chevy Blazer and it had the Temp/Compass built in the rearview mirror.

Found this site to be very helpful for changing the doors.
http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticl.../photo_08.html

So did anyone findout if the fullsize window will fit in place of the normal window next to the vent?

I think this would be the easiest way instead of changing the entire door.
I'll search online for bone Cherokee doors with the panels removed.

I just remembered I have the orginal Chrysler 1991 manuals and a Haynes 84-01 Cherokee book. I look in them, should have blueprint of the doors in them.

I got my entire dash from a 01, really all the part stickers on the insides say 1999 though. I put the cluster wrap around in and my current cluster would fit perfectly in it. But the problem is the Info box next to it. "That shows you the vehicle is in 4X4 mode, Maint Req, Seatbet not on. ect.."

If anyone knows how to wire correctly, the 97-01 cluster has the light box built in the cluster it self.

Been bouncing back and forth on projects. I found a part of the 97-01 hatch that will need to be added, The metal strip "On top when door open will need to be lowered, If you have a 97-01 Cherokee I will need this measurement. http://img218.imageshack.us/i/gatev.jpg/ I can go from here and check my size in mine later on. I have a body guy that can do all this. I'm getting the rockers repaired at the end of this month and later on can get images of the next project of the 01 fenders getting installed for some of the people wanting to know about the Header panel/fender installation.

Are you going to adapt the 97 up hatch to the 96 down hinges or vice versa. I'll see if I can get you that measurement this morning

I was looking at some Cherokee interiors and my plan was going for the charcoal black color, But saw this and thought it look nice, Tan and charcal mix. my Dash parts I have is a mixed with charcoal and tan and gray. I was planning on painting all it charcoal, but had second thoughts but my door panels and middle console is charcoal.

Heres a Tan and Charcoal dash http://img811.imageshack.us/i/dashsetup.jpg/

A all charcoal and was my first plan
