That thing looks bad ***. But ditch those TJ flares... they don't look right and don't belong on an XJ. Get some Bushwackers or something if you need to run flares to keep it legal.

Also on your cage, the C pillar bend doesn't look safe. Was it bent using a die or heated up and bent another way? If you roll that XJ, that bend in the tube isn't going to hold up. If it were me, I'd put some triangulation in that rear section and maybe a vertical support directly under that bend that's not a true bend.

thanks for the criticism but i am not spending 400 bucks on flares that are just going to break and fall off.

as far as the cage goes it is built mainly to stiffen up the body a little and keep me from getting crushed in a roll. its not meant to survive multiple rolls. the main hoop is a stock wrangler hoop and the rear supports were bent by a local exhaust shop for free. the rear tubes are way overkill and are 1/4 wall. the bend may weaken it slightly but not enough to cause them to fail.

Since this thread has been posted recently, I thought I would ask for some info. I posted a thread about the 97+ front header, but how did you mount the bottom part? Any other tips/tricks I should know about it. Also, I noticed that the pre-96 side marker pieces are differnt that the newer ones. THey fit and they are snug with the header panel in, but did you swap connectors?

do you think a chop like this could be done to a 4 door XJ and keep the doors functional... just do a chop to the windows on the rear doors... would this come out looking similar...
