Default '01 XJ - about to start...

So I bought my Heep back in January. Its a 2001 Cherokee Sport. It's sat pretty much stock since. A couple of things have been changed by the PO: A crappy CD player and some 16" jeep wheels were swapped on. It's got roughly 172k clicks. Leaks a little oil from the rear main (new seal is on the way) and a valve cover gasket is calling my name from the garage.

Oh, and my lift just showed up on my porch today! Rough Country 4.5" with new springs. No, I didn't do the X series. Not in my budget for now. I'm down to two different tires possibilities: The General Graber AT2 or the Hankook Dynapro ATM. I'm planning to use a 285/75 r16. Any opinions? I plan to mostly be a pavement pounder, but I do like to get out with the wife and daughter to some more remote camping spots. Hoping to hit Big Bend in the spring. Some light trail riding at Hidden Falls might be in order. Don't care for mud and don't ever plan to do any rock crawling. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Never thought to take any, but it looks like it's FINALLY about to start to take shape...

A few photos of the Heep- as promised. Also, a shot of my RC goodies sitting in my garage! Plus, a shot of where the install instructions will live until I install the lift!

So far, so good. Fingers crossed! No Houdini coolant, clean oil at changes, no overheating issues. And I'm in Texas! PLUS the score of the week - I just found a 285/75 r16 BFG AT to be used as a spare on Craigs List for $15!

Picked up my spare yesterday. It is WELL worn, so I offered the guy $10. Strange to have bought a spare BEFORE the rest of the tires... Either way, score for me!

Tomorrow morning, I begin. I plan to do the front Saturday and the rear Sunday. By myself. My bro in law offered to help Sunday but has to work tomorrow. If he helps Sunday, I fear there will be more beer drinkin' and cussin' than actual work taking place... Stay tuned. See prior posts for before pics, afters to follow. General Grabber AT2's to follow later next week.

Hey, "lowered a bit" over 9-10 years? I can deal with that!

Thanks. Since the alignment, it rides great! The bushings on the new leaf springs seem a little squeaky to me. Hopefully it's just because they're new! Thus rig is intended to be more of an expeditioner than rock crawler. Stay tuned for more upgrades.
