New to the forum but not to jeeps and other 4x4 vehicles. I've been in the tidewater area since 2001 and have owned some Jeeps in that time, but this is my first XJ build and should have it complete by November. I'm looking to meet up with people who trail ride often as I will be very active soon.

Welcome to the site! If you want check out hrjc.org for one of the local clubs. You should post up a pic of your rig. What part of Virginia Beach are you in.

It's a work in progress, should be pretty much done by November Hopefully. It has a 6.5 rough country lift with a detroit locker and 4.56 gears in the rear, need to order an Aussie Locker for the front and then install the 4.56 gears and locker all at once. I have a front bumper on order and going to Fab up a rear. I have a few other upgrades besides these.

Looking for HP D30 for my Jeep want a 95+ axle but will settle for a HP without vaccum disconnects, I'll just swap my axleshafts from my current axle

If anyone wants to do the waggy front end (4 headlights) there's one at the PnP on Sykes Ave in amazing condition.

Hey all, still here.

Finished the 3" lift on the back and installed my hitch.

Having some problems up front though. 1st having trouble removing the old track bar. Got the nut off up top. Do I need to separate the ball joint there or should it come off with just the nut being taken off.

2nd is the sway bar links. I am replacing them with quick disconnects.

The old bottom attachment point/pin will not come out. It has a 55torx head. After breaking a bit off in it I re-read the direction to find that some should be tapped out with a hammer due to a serration on it to keep it from turning.

Hit it a bunch of times with a big hammer and it is not budging. Getting ready to grind the head off and drill it out. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Brian

For your sway bar link bolts you'll want Heat and a ball joint press. We did mine in advances parking lot and they didn't charge me....Granted granted thy new matt. It's a bit of a pain but probably the easiest way to do it. They have splines and are pressed in.

I tried the heat and hammer and all it did was flatten the end of the bolt, but my hammer may not have been big enough.

Got the track bar off with the combination of pickle fork and beating the crap out of it with a 3lb hammer.

Got the sway bar link studs out with heat and the ball joint compressor. Red, thanks for that tip.

Attaching the drag link back to the passenger side wheel, the internals of the ball joint just spins? Is there some way to hold it?

I just replaced my entire front end pretty much, and now I need to start on the rear. Anybody have anything they would like to donate or sell (leaf springs, axle, drums etc.)? My rear is sagging like crazy.
