So for a while now I've been running 33s on my D35 and am wanting to upgrade for a while now. I don't have a welder right now so I need to find a D44 or a 29 spline 8.25 to bolt in. Does anyone know of any junkyards in northern Virginia where you can pull your own parts? Also I eventually want to go to 35s so I'm leaning towards a D44, but would a 29 spline 8.25 be able to handle 35s?

It's too bad your way up there and I am way down here in VA Beach. We have a Pick-n-pull here that has a slew of XJs in there. All with axles. Pity. If you choose to come down, give me a holar, I'll help you wrench it out.

i'm definitely gonna get with you as soon as the weather warms up a bit. gonna try to strip off a complete cruise control kit, an 8.25 and maybe a hatch with a defroster.

I wheeled my 92 XJ on 35's hard with a 8.25 with 29spline axles in some ways the 8.25 is stronger the Dana 44 does have a larger pinion bearing and better aftermarket support then the 8.25 but I never had any problem with mine. We have alot of u pull it yards here in NC with alot of XJ's.

Cool beans, just let me know when. Also check their website before making the drive down here to ensure they at least have jeeps.

http://www.picknpull.com/check_inventory.aspx use 23454 for the zip code. Let me know when you sure you are coming so i can go in there a day or two before to give you an idea of what is available. I need to go in there to get a trailer hitch for my 01 WJ.
