Well so far i've swapped a T-case and front axle with a little help from my step-dad and i'm 16 and I want to be a mechanic so i'll do anything, may not succeed at 1st but, that just means more learning! haha Could I use a leaf pack from any ol' pick up/SUV? and also How do you know how much lift it adds or do you just have to guess it and check it?

I did the bastard pack on 99classic's (Garrett) and we used a leaf pack from an S-10 I believe. Any junk yard around this area has many Blazers and S-10s to choose from. On his it was the XJ main, S10 main, XJ 2nd, S10 2nd, and XJ 3rd I believe and it netted him right around 3-3.5 inches. took us all night to do it beacuse we ran into some issues and we also did the front.

I dont know how far you are from me but if you ever need any help, just shoot me a pm on here or even come by the house.

I was pissed..but, I found a fellow XJ'er in Wilmington and got one..lol

Bastard pack is crazy easy and yeah not a bad way to go, the blocks were given to me with the spacers from a buddy who no longer needed them, however my brother doesn't want to come off them.

You can use XJ springs too just an FYI, put together 4 xj rear spring packs for my buddys stretched yj and it took me roughly 30 minutes with an impact and a bfg.

Autozone sells shackles for 35 a pair. Pretty darn affordable and will take the abuse of mild wheeling.

Fenders bring the gay anyway, trim em up.

A friend used Chevy shackles, he did have to do some kind of modification but can't specifically recall what it was. I believe he had to trim the bar for the bushing?

I don't know a whole lot of the people around here but there are a TON of built XJs.

I do know an "Allen" who lives in Monkey Junction that has a bunch of wrecked Jeeps I get parts from occasionally. Maybe the same guy? He's never met up with me in an XJ though.

I had a set. Never ran them but they are pretty stout. I put them on my Jeep and ended up at 6.5" in the rear so I put my 1.5" shackles back on to get me back to the 5" I was going for.

The Superior shackles require some grinding to get them to fit the XJ however.

Also - they are 7.5" center to center. Stock XJ rear shackles are 3.25" center to center so figure on ~2" of lift from them along with a wrecked shackle angle.

SE NC people - I NEED a set of decent 33s. I'm willing to pay for them - just can't find them.

Long story short I am working on a budget. I have 2 choices:
  1. Buy new tires and build my axle this winter
  2. Buy used and be able to finish my XJ now
Obviously I am going for option 2. Problem is I can't seem to find ANYTHING.

If any of you know of a decent set of MATCHING 33" MTs (Or maybe even 35s if the price is right) with a good amount of life left let me know.

I have cash in hand and I want to spend it . . .

I'm in Wilmington and willing to meet within a reasonable distance.

PM me if your interested, can probably help you out, I can usually get Firestone Destination M/T's in 33x12.50 for nearly cost because a few friends work there, great tires too.

I would say it would be around $650-700 for a set of 4 brand new.
