I'll know within the next 2 weeks or so if I'm going, only reason I wouldn't is money and I start a second job next week so I should be set.
lol. The only trouble for me is that the 28th is a Saturday. Getting a weekend day off during the summer is like pulling teeth. HOWEVER, If these plans get more solid and it becomes a go. I will request that day off.

If my rig will make it that far....I have no idea. I trust it pretty well around town but I have never really had it on a journey of that length. It will probably do fine but I have always felt nervous taking it too far.

Hopefully by then Ill actually have my crap straightened out and my new tires on. Once I get this fuel pump situation ironed out I plan on really getting into gear and getting the stuff done that I have been meaning to do for a while. I have a whole pile of stuff laying on my living room floor ready to go on. Lights, lift, passenger mirror on the way, front tow hooks on the way, and temp gauge.

Hell if you want to wait that long, I'll bring a bunch of tools and drive down to your place and we can get a bunch of the stuff on and taken care of before meeting up with everyone else. Pluss if you break something I'll have a bunch of tools with me to hopefully fix it. How far do you live from where we're going?

Depends on where everyone ends up. I think the plan is Oregon Inlet. Only about a 40 minute drive... not worried about that too much. If it ends up going on to Hatteras or Okracoke island that is slightly over an hour from me. 40 minute ferry ride over to Ocracoke.

It's not really that far I am just worried about the heat. Never driven it very far when its been hot outside and with no temp gauge .... long story short..... Heat + longish drive + beach driving = me kinda nervous.

Oh and I still need to figure out if Ive fried my transfer case or not from that mistake a few days ago. I fear I may have done some damage but I really don't know.

Honestly it should be fine. If you were able to drive it around afterwards its probably oh-kay. If you broke something you would've known it because you either woulda broken a axle u-joint, an axle shaft, pretzeled a driveshaft or blown up something in the transfer case. If you did any of those it would've been a really loud pop or bang and you wouldn't be able to mistake it for anything but that.

yeah then most likely its fine. once the fuel pump is in, go find a field, some sand or something and put it in 4 wheel high and see if you notice anything unusual.

on top of that you might want to put a little strain on it. mine worked fine as all i did was stretch the chain a little. but under load it would pop and or slip.

i now have to get a sye as i developed a bad vibration. literatly can move the DS up and down. its feeling lose on the slip yoke like there is only a little bit of spline contact. so im going to have to do the hack and tap before i can go. whats wierd is the fact it just all of a sudden started doing it.

mt - just go the JY, pull a driveshaft and pinon, throw it in and see if it still does it. that'll tell you if you actually need an SYE or not.

Beach Run is at Oregon Inlet
August 28th

Still need to figure out a meet up place before we all cross into NC. Any suggestions? I say meet up around 9 or 10ish so we can actually have a full day there. Any other thoughts on this?

All 4x4's are welcome.

Food so far:
NO RDPLZ - BBQ chicken
Zachs XJ - Brownies or Pie

Eh, you should see the amount of slop in the pinion on my rear axle. I can grab the driveshaft and shake the pinon end back and forth about 1/8th of an inch any direction. Rear D35 is FUBAR. But i'm buying a 3.55 geared 8.25 this weekend to replace the 3.07 jank.

True that on the DS and Pinion. The meet up at 9 or 10 sounds good. It'd be an early morning for me but so worth it.

I'd love some shrimp, just make sure you don't give me food poisoning.

lol, for me to make it its gonna be about a tank and a half of gas, and I'm going to need to LEAVE My house by 6:30 to make it there at 10. I may spend the night before at my mom's house in Chesapeake to cut an hour an a half off the trip.

clarification - for those of us north of the NC line - meet up around 9 or 10, get to Oregon Inlet around 11 or 12. Unless you guys wanna meet at Oregon Inlet around 9 or 10.

i would much rather meet up north of the boarder. nothing badder a$$ than seeing a group of 4x4s cruising together IMO. that and i want to make sure i know where we are going.

my vote it to meet somewhere in the battle field blvd shopping center. not too far out of the way for us guys in the peninsula area. i just dont know that area or whats there that would be convient and easy to meet at, but thats my vote.

as far as us count me in for now. ill talk to my buddies too. dunno what we are going to decide on bringing as of yet.

about the drive shaft its not the pinion end thats got the play. its my slip yoke thats got alot of play. you know the end that one should eliminate going 4.5" or more.

to all of us north of the border - meet in the Sam's Club parking lot in the Battlefield Blvd Shopping Complex, Chesepeake, VA at 9am. From there, we'll take 168 (Battlefield) all the way to Wright Memorial - we avoid the toll rd this way. From there it's a straight shot down 12. There's a beach access at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center where we can air down and hit the sand. If we leave Sam's Club around 9:15-9:30 we'll be at the beach around 11:30-12. Sound good to everyone?
