The top bolt is a pain because of tight access. A stubby 9/16" wrench works good, especially with a length of cord attached to pull on also.
But keep in mind this info is from someone in North Carolina. Might not be viable in PA.
So nice of u to stop by and visit. Lol. I ll bring a stubby 9/16 just in case. Thanks for the tip

Would it be accessible if I dropped the trans a bit

Just don't put your face in front of it lol

LOL. It was all working properly. So i went ahead and did the camshaft sensor, that wasn't it. Then did the crank shaft positioning sensor and that fixed the problems. So if anyone ever has a issue with their xj's stalling out when driving, or even when just starting it, (and/or) putting it into gear I'd start with the cps.

I still know the alphabet and probably remember maybe 50 words or so. I was the translator for several deaf relatives another lifetime ago.

It would be more accessible, however it is only one bolt that is tricky and there is just enough room to get the stubby wrench ( 5" long) on it. Pulling on the wrench is tough in that tight spot. I took a clue from a forum member and tied a piece of cord to the wrench to assist breaking the bolt loose. Worked good.
Here is someones version of it..HA

I'm still hoping for the off chance that someone took out the trans and tossed the tc on the ground. Easy picking

I'll give you a good deal on the spare np231 I have from my first jeep. It's been under a tarp in my driveway for a few months but never had any problems with it. Shoot me a pm, if you don't still have my number!

Mr. Wonders, what's wrong with your transfer case? I have a 231 sitting in my garage waiting for me to lift the jeep and swap it in. lol, actually SYE needs to go in it first.

Btw, welding is going excellent. Dunno if you saw my weld cart thread in the fab section. What a great idea it was to build that--it's been awesome practice so far.

Nothing wrong with my 231. I just want to pick up another one to install a sye on it then swap into my jeep. So there won't be any down time with my jeep since its my dd. and it's always good to have a spare 231 too.

Gotcha. I'm swapping from a 242 so I don't think I'll keep that one around as a spare lol, plus when I'm lifted I'll need the SYE. Man I can't wait to get to that point in my project. next year sometime probably lol. Next big project is 2x6 rocker sliders. On a stocker nonetheless!

Yeah I saw your cart build. Lol. It's always a good practice. In my 10 years of owning personal welders, I never built a cart lol. I'm always on the go, doing mobile repairs, I never needed a cart.

Me too. I have a nearly completed 4.5 lift with 3 link waiting to go on, I just need to get this sye done.
