Default Chapter 3-> reel big fish!

.....Ben and I quietly and slowly wade into the refreshing, powerful current. the cold water is such a relief from my burning legs. as we look down stream, we realize were at the top of s stretch of deep, stillwater pools that we name, the "thunder pools" since there were distant clouds thundering a low tone rumble. I cast my spinnerfly and instantly tag a small brook trout. I mention that if there's trout up in the rapids, imagine the ones in the pools. we get down to the first of 3 pools. We start catching small bass and chubs. If you didnt know, a chub is a silvery minnow looking junkfish that will bite anything and I just now realize can get up to 16" long. we fish on. I catch a 17" bass which sets the standard. After a few hours, we reach the last, deepest pool. I immediately catch a 4" chub. Ben, discouraged with the lack of trout and large bass, comes up with the idea to keep the chub as bait. He put it on his hook with a treble hook in its back. He casts it out and we laugh as it flails through the air and smacks the water broadside. Once we get done laughing, he starts to reel it back in. Then his poles bends over. Did it really work? No hes just stuck on a log. we start wading towards it when it takes off. it's winding through his drag. this is any buzzing. you can hear the bearing in his reel whining as it's stripping 280 yards of 3lb test line off the reel in seconds. he has no choice but to fight back and hope that 3lb really means 15lb. If the string reaches the end, it's all over. he reels slowly, not making any ground. the monster fish is getting tired. After 22 minutes, Ben is able to reel the thing in to a corner where I wrestled it to the banks. we weighed the largemouth bass at 5 3/4 pounds. the maine record is around 8 pounds out of a lake. The fish was 27 inches long and made for a harder walk uphill back to the jeep. we got back to his place around 6pm and felt like we had accomplished our plan of doing something interesting. The end.

dude, good stuff... u've got a good head on ur shoulders... stand up for what u believe & dont take criticism & negativity to heart

what kind of stix do those cops, boss, & all stupid nay-sayers have up their rectums.... EFF them!!... glad u took a stand against them... i would've left that girl (class pres?) in the snow bank... actually, in reality i would help, i'm also the type to help out to any in distress, but i would've proceeded to take her home w/me ("only way to survive this blizzard's to come home with me now" type of thing), or atleast TELL her she had to re-pay by goin on a date... few years back, a bunch of streets downtown flooded, one of them was behind the police station, & their parking lot.... they had tried to get all the cars out of the lot before it completely flooded, but a few cruisers didnt make it, & were stalled in the street.... here i come with my lifted XJ & recovery gear, wade through the entire street (dodging po-po rides) offer my assistance to a disgruntled group of officers on dry pavement, & before i could finish my sentence, "NO, WE'RE ALL SET, MOVE ALONG!"

dont worry about what u post in ur own thread, its about u & ur jeep, & whatever u want to write about.... whoever wants to read, will read, those who dont, well they wont.... keep it up!

K2 Dark

I would encourage you to express yourself in this form if that is what you believe you need to be doing. If you have it within you to write more, I for one would be a future willing reader.

Afterall, successful authors really don't worry about the potential readers of their work, but tend to focus on what's inside and the desire to get in down on paper for the permanent record.

You are talented, so why not see how far that talent extends.

Franklin sure is a cute guy and I would like to know more about the breed in general, and Franklin in particular.

Default chapter four.

last day of November, Ben and I decided to go out hunting one last time behind his house. He has a tree stand that is at the back of his property overlooking a swamp. we decide to take my xj since there is about 8" of snow. we have to go through the sandpit from the back rather than walk across the swamp because then we would be giving ourselves away. so were doing some sketching side hilling of the snow covered sand dunes. then we get to where the tav trail leads off into the woods. Of coarse the culvert is washed out so threw the creek we go. We park hidden in the woods( tanish silver and black xj in a snowy forest blends in quite well) we then use my iPod as a dim light to see where were going(this is 5:30am in November) we get up into the stand and drink some coffee. he has his 20 gauge with 00 buck and his 7mm with his variable zoom scope for longer distance. I like bigger guns. I don't wana hope I get a vital organ. I wana knock em on there ***** and be ready to shoot again if they get up. I got my mossberg 12 guage full choke with 00 buck. And my bolt action .270. Just before hunting starts, we try a doe in estress call. For some strange reason it called in a doe. It wasva good 300 yards away. I picked up bens 7mm because it has the better scope and check out this deer. about 110-130 lb. Doe. we were confused at this. So we waited a while and the does just kinda hung out. it was acting very odd. I grabbed my 12 gauge, quietly and very slowly stalked my way out to the trail. What I was planning on doing was walking down the trail and "pushing" the piece of woods the doe came out of into the swamp. I quietly came around the corner to where I wanted to start my drive. there right in the middle of the trail was a buck. Didnt have time to count looked like a 6. I clicked my safety and when he looked up, I pulled the trigger. yea my shoulder hurt for the rest of the day but so did his because my 3" 00 buck droped him exactly 52 yards from where I was standing(not bad for buckshot.) so now bens radios me and says "I'm coming!" I said no your not take that 7mm of yours and zoom in on that piece. he says ok I'll take your word for it. about 50 seconds later I hear pow. Then pow. Then pow. Then one more. its unlike him to unload a hole clip. I radio him. Did you get him? he said he came out and ran towards garry's( oposite way of the stand. he said I don't know what it was but it was big! ge walks over there and sure enough he's got a nice looking 8 pointer. so after field dressing them and draping them over the top of the xj(no easy feet for 2 kids!) we tagged out. Mine was nothing special. 154 pound buck with a pretty rare 5 point rack. bens was 171 pound 8 pointer. not quite wall worthy but worth bragging rights. we did fairly well. When the day was done, I thought about how glad I was to have an xj to get us out there and back. We woulda had no chance without it.

Sounds like the south where all the yuppie liberals live. lol Im way up north, by Baxter State Park. LOTS of off roading up here. Ever watch American Loggers on Discovery? Thats where Im driving every day. Anyway....Ill read the rest at some point. Taker easy & dont let the man get you down.
