So being very new to the OHV world and not having anyone to help 'get me into it' I've had a really difficult time trying to find any local trails. Well it occurred to me yesterday, why is this so hard? So I was thinking it would be really cool if people could just put a thumb-tack on a map of where they've found legal trails. Luckily, I happen to know Google Maps has this functionality. It's kind of clunky to use so I made a quick tutorial:
You can add a marker one of two ways.
First you can search google maps and save a result to your maps.

Or you can manually zoom into a location and add a marker.

Then you can rename the marker, add information (like entry fees or difficulty), and/or change the marker image.

After you're done you don't forget to save your changes. Also make sure to keep the map public so other people can find it and feel free to invite other people to collaborate. I don't want to leave it open so that anyone can modify it because I just know someone would come along and ruin it for everyone.

This is the link to the map: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...,22.587891&z=6
Just pm me with an e-mail address then use the link in the e-mail that google sends you to edit the map.
I also added this OHV Trail map that I found: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0...,90.351563&z=4
This map seems to cover most of the major parks in the US but right now I'm more concerned with local trails (at least local to the North Atlantic).
Let me know what you guys think, these can also be saved as *.kml files and edited in Google Earth.

Good stuff man. There are acctualy some you can download that people have already made. I know on NC4x4.com we have one for every trail in North Carolina along with a couple outside trails people travel to.
