Haha, I don't want to scare the Noob just yet. I've had more busted knuckles, shocks, and bumps to the head (prior to installing new rear door lift supports) than I care to admit. But they were all well worth the knowledge gained. Except the extra tap-outs from the rear hatch...definitely could have done without those.

Hey guys, new to this particular forum (been perusing NAXJA for about 6 months now) and I for some strange reason chose to get an XJ for my first car. I've had Bernice for about 2 months now, and she still needs some body work to be roadworthy. She's a bone stock 1997 Country with only 105k on her. I look forward to annoying the **** out of you guys with the stereotypical newbie questions (hopefully not for long!)

For some strange reason??? You mean because you came to your senses and realized that you wanted a first car that would force you to learn about it, learn the hard way about patience, cost you monthly in building a tool inventory and monthly (if not weekly) in maintenance costs, instead of a car that made you a zombie of the masses, with their high gas mileage and low annual maintenance costs...wait...why DID you choose this again???

Kidding, welcome.

I choose it because I do a lot of camping, but mostly because I'm not up for being a zombie, and I wanted a piece of true 'murican engineering I could learn to fix!
