It's been a long 3 days. Between pulling people out, shoveling, and drinking a few to many. I'm the tired and the zj has had enough.

I wasn't even able to drive anywhere yesterday after about 1pm because the snow got too deep. Damien got his XJ on 35s nearly stuck on a side street. Dug out my Kia and drove the Jeep over 3 feet of snow to get it out for work tomorrow. Still now plow down my street.

The drifts overwhelmed my 3" lift and 31's. Got about 20 feet before backing into the driveway.

29" here. Spent the weekend shoveling people's roof in my community to unblock their furnace vents. EXHAUSTED.

Finally got the street cleared around 3pm today so I could escape in the jeep. Immediately broke through the snowbank and went to TGI Fridays. LOL

So my brother comes over and when he tries to leave he gets stuck. Instead of coming and asking for help he proceeds to rev the **** out of the engine in his car and it throws the timing chain. Ended up pulling him out of the snow bank with my jeep and pushed him into a neighbors drive way.

he just got that car like 6mo ago.

I'm finally fixing my Jeep today. Hopefully nothing else breaks this time.

Ok, been having crazy idea's. Want to convert my XJ to 5x5 lug pattern without spacers. With the amount of stupid cheap JK takeoffs out there it doesn't seem like a bad idea. I think I've got the front end covered. JK hubs will bolt directly onto the xj knuckle, I will have to swap the stub shafts to d30 JK stubs.

I have an 8.25 29 spline rear, anyone know of 5x5 lug pattern vehicles I could get shafts from for it or am I looking at taking my shafts to a machine shop and having a new pattern drilled?

re-drill is your only option for the rear. the 8.25 is XJ specific.

the front shafts use different size ujoints, so just swapping the stub shaft is not an option. Also since the joint is bigger it will end up in a slightly different spot with relation to the ball joints (king pin inclination angle is different on the JK 30) than the XJ/TJ setup and won't operate correctly. You'll be blowing through ujoints left and right.

the d30 jk and the late model XJ use the same size ujoints. Spicer 5-760X replaced the 5-297X joint. I have a set of late model shafts on my workbench with the 760 joint in em.

ok well regardless of that, the u-joint still won't line up in the correct location relative to the ball joints with the jk stub (longer). You'll need a weld-on hub spacer similar to the WJ knuckle conversion. And then you'll probably run into issues with the rotor not lining up with the caliper.

And JK stock wheel offsets won't work without spacers on an XJ IIRC anyways.

So what's the point again? Lot of work for no gain IMO. And JK parts are more expensive also.
