Actually the *******s at my local carwash sprayed some cleaner on them that ****ed up the untreated Aluminum finish. Then proceeded the play the it was like that when you brought it in card.
Either way I was able to clean them up a bit but didn't feel it was worth getting them refinished.
Recently I was reading a thread on another forum and bang there it was. A explanation of what happened and what caused the reaction. So for those who are looking at Mickey Classics or any other untreated wheel he is what you need to know about cleaners and Aluminum.
Put on your goggles kids its time for a chemistry lesson:
Simple Green, PPC Crud Remover, Zep Purple all use a active ingredient called
Butoxyethanol
Simple green states Butoxyethanol, a colorless organic liquid, acts as the main cleaning solvent in Simple Green to help clean dirt and grease. Simple Green's material safety data sheet state that it's the only active ingredient in the product that may be dangerous if you're exposed to too much of it, though its 4 percent concentration in Simple Green does not pose a hazard to your health.
So it is a strong detergent that's is supposed to be better for the environment. *cough* heard this before, RoundUp *cough* and since we all know that car washes produce tons of chemical waste they are making the move to earth friendlier cleaners. Also on occasion they stash large amounts of methylamine...
What happens when you use these products on untreated aluminum. it almost immediately starts to foam and emit a gas that makes it very hard to breath. Burns the throat and chest. Uncontrolled coughing. Very unpleasant. Even after heavy dilution. One must use it carefully. If I leave it on the part, for more than a few minutes, it starts to discolor the surface, as if it is burning the material. It doesn't act as if it is the truth is is does in fact discolor and etch the surface.
My advice if you are looking at Mickey Thompson classic style wheels that are polished and untreated aluminum make sure you follow these guidelines and don't let some a$$ splunker with a squirt bottle full of "cleaner" wash your wheels.

I tried everything out there and was not able to get them back to the original shine.
Lets see what were some of the products I used
Pretty much the whole Mothers line plus the power ball small and large.
Bar Keepers Friend
Various cleaners and cleansers
a whole box of tampons. I was whining a ton.
and a ton of research on how to polish properly

Cooper is doing awesome. He'a house broke and getting bigger every day. Took him to the vet a few weeks ago and he is 100% healthy.
The other day we had no choice but to leave him in his crate for 4 hours. He pooped in it, no surprise. Then he decided to roll around in it. It was all over him, the walls, the floor, his toys, everywhere. Now he is named ****head.
