Hi J.D.,

Thanks for the email. My initial question is what is your absolute bottom dollar on this Jeep? That has yet to be answered. NADA book value is $4,675. The carfax report says it is worth + $580 over book. That's $5,255 dollars. Which I might be willing to pay on the condition that you write a guarantee that it will pass MD State Inspection, and agree in writing to repair any deficiencies that may cause it to not pass the MD Inspection and emissions. (This is part of the NADA's definition of "Clean Retail"...that it will pass any state/local inspections)

You are asking $8,999 which is $3,744 over Clean Retail with the carfax price adjustment of 580.

My 2nd question is why do you feel it is worth the additional $3,744? Because it is green?

Does it cook breakfast and give hand jobs? If that's the case I might consider it at $9,000.

I'm sorry if my attempt at humor was in poor taste, just understand that I have been looking at Jeeps for the past 2 weeks. Most dealers seem to be asking Clean Retail prices for Jeeps that don't stand a chance in hell of passing MD inspection, and Jeeps that will legitimately pass the MD inspection are somehow worth Clean Retail values, plus another 50%. Can you explain that for me?

Thanks.

to me

Thanks for the quick response, this jeep is in very clean condition and it probably will pass md state inspection but i can't guarentee that. I will tell you this jeep is super clean and has no rust, we inspected it and it is ready to roll! I would sell the jeep for
6889.00 plus tag and doc fees. There are alot of these older jeeps around with alot of rust and not in this condition. Let me know. Thanks

ok...see that's what i'm getting at. "super clean and no rust" are assumed under a "clean retail" price, as is passing state inspections.

my understanding of "clean retail" is a 100% mechanically sound vehicle. your understanding seems to be "it looks nice".

if you can find someone stupid enough to give you 7K for that Jeep, they deserve the screw job you're giving them.

He said it's Clayton. I didn't see it on their site, but it may be an old design.

That's the one I used to have in my shed. The top piece is a frame brace. The bars are NOT Clayton (the frame mount is) - it's a custom job.

Did he tell you that trackbar is for an over-the-axle trackbar setup...? It will NOT work with the stock steering geometry, axle side mount, or coil buckets. It's also much shorter. That's why I didn't use it. It also uses johnny joints which are much wider than the stock bushing.

That sounds like important information that wasn't listed in the FB ad.

Means he probably just knowingly sold you a trackbar that you can't use.

Look above. Also notice the Clayton bar he sold you isn't actually Clayton.
