Hey guys, I've had my jeep now for a couple years stock and I'm thinking its finally time for some work on it. I want to get some kind of 3" lift but for one I am a broke college student and secondly, I don't really have any experience working on cars. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on cheap lifts or anyone would be willing to help me do the install. I could pay someone (less than they want at shops) or supply beer or something...

 

pictures of your jeep must be posted. and as for lift the IRO is a good one, full leaf packs are pretty much a must though. AALs (add a leafs) suck

 

What kind of pictures? I'm not planning on doing extreme wheeling, I'm moving to Cali in January so I really want this lift mostly for getting to some secluded breaks and driving on the beach

 

of the jeep! and if you're just doing that, you don't really need a lift, you're better off just getting better/bigger tires

 

Haha I mean like just pics of the exterior or do you want to see how rusty and what kind of shape my stuff is in. And I know it's not necessary for that but I do plan on doing some other wheeling occasionally and I like the idea of a 3" lift plus everyone up north in Cali have huge lifted trucks, I want to show them what jeeps can do

I would agree with kuzican, a lift is not needed. But chicks dig lifts...what else is there to do in cali? Lol. I would say do a 3" lift with full leaf packs. Serious offroad is having a special on their 3.5" RE lift for $530 shipped. Or you can do a small 2" lift with 30" tires. Itll be super cheap and look like an aggressive stocker.

 

any pictures. stock jeeps can do a lot. I wheeled a stock Jeep for awhile, but if you want a lift, lift it by all means. look at the iron rock offroad stuff. a 3" lift is a good sized lift that gives you that extra capability where you don't need to upgrade a whole bunch of the other stuff. at 4.5 you pretty much need SYE, driveshaft, adj track bar, brake lines etc....

 

I thought i had a picture of my jeep posted under my profile, if I don't, I'm not sure how to post pictures. I'm in timonium but my parents live in owings mills so i am between those two places. The part of cali I'm moving to is really hilly and mountains everywhere so it wouldn't be a waste to do the lift just in case. and I was kind of hoping to go to 31s

welcome. so if youre moving to cali you should probably just lift the front of your jeep 3" and leave the rear cali lift....
since you don't plan on getting to crazy with the jeep i would suggest coil spacers up front and shackles in the rear. cheap, effective and you can fit bigger tires
