Got up this morning with the intent to take a half day at work and then go play some before going out of town. I got to the end of my driveway and the alternator took a crap. Could hear the bearings screaming. As I pulled it back up to park it I started smelling something and popped the hood. The whole top off the battery was cracked and smoking.
I saw an alternator that was a 136 amp versus the standard 90 amp on autozones website. It is special order but it is the same price as the 90 amp with free shipping. Anybody have any experience with this alternator or recommendation? I do run a winch so thats one reason I wanted to step up the alternator without paying $400.00 for the 200 amp I saw on Quadratec.

You can Junkyard pull 136A alternators from V8 Grand Cherokee's all day. You can go 160A in some R/T Durango's....it's a good upgrade. As long as it fits in the stock location, you will see no issue.
Remember, however, your wiring was not design for that load, so when upgrading the ALT, you should upgrade wiring and the Bus fuse to the PDC.
