For those who have purchased and waiting/ going to purchase.... a good read

The Licensing Division is currently conducting "initial reviews" for January 16th and 17th. As a reminder, there are several factors that may require an application to be placed on "secondary review." We are conducting secondary reviews for the 11th and 12th. If an application is placed on "hold," you should have been notified. Secondary review does not mean it's a "hold." If, during an initial review, a civilian finds a possible record, the application is given to a trooper to research further. This is usually completed pretty fast. However, if the applicant has a record with no disposition, it is placed on hold until we can reasonably investigate.
We have discovered a couple days where the fax machine was apparently not working properly. We have recovered any application that may have been missed during those days. We do not typically lose paperwork as is feared by many people. If we do not have a record of the application, it is due to a fax issue. The great news is we have replaced the old fax machine with two brand new machines. If one machine goes down, faxes are automatically pushed to the other machine. I am hopeful this will remedy the missing application problem. If you still have one you think was lost, give me the list so they can be pushed to the top of the pile.
We have recently hired two new employees. It will take about a month to get them up to speed. We are currently training additional employees at outside barracks to conduct initial reviews. Starting tomorrow, we will being replacing the old "slow" computers with brand new computers. We will also be using dual monitors. Although the impact may be minimal, it is an impact nonetheless.
I do expect this backlog to continue to grow for a period of time. We are averaging 350 applications a day (down from the previous two month average of 490 a day) Our production of outgoing applications is slowly improving. I am hopeful within the next 30 days we will be sending out more than is coming in. The wait time is not acceptable to the Licensing Division and I will continue to look for solutions to catch up.
I would like to host a forum for the planned automation process sometime in March. I will hold the forum in Pikesville. If interested, let me know and I will place you on the notification list. I do not have an exact date yet. If needed, I will hold additional forums on the Shore and Western Maryland.

Stopped into Fine Wines aka Total Wine aka Corridor in Laurel today and saw a big stack of beer that rang a bell. Looks like they have a pretty good supply.
