#3a Clearance the front furrel
#3b Shim Gas cylinder

#4 NM trigger job
#5 NM rear sight
#6 Glass bed the stock
#7 USGI front band if you have a Sprinfield

#8 MATCH GRADE AMMO. I don't know how far your shooting but the subsonic threshold for .308 is between 900 and 1100 yards. If you plan on shooting at 1000 pray for no wind. Even with the best rifle and loads, your going to have trouble shooting a service rifle at 1000yds. Get bullets with the highest ballistic coefficient possible and watch your chamber pressures if your loading your own.

If your going to try to shoot at 1000, try185 Bergers loaded with 42.5 grains of IMR 4895, loaded long into the throat. YMMV. I like it better than 175 Sierra Match Kings.
That's all very good advice. Expensive, but you'll never out shoot it. Oh, and I FIFY!
