that's a strange spot for steam to be coming from, unless one of the freeze plugs has a hole in it, or it's flowing there from somewhere else.

If there was that much trash in the cooling system it might have fouled up the T-stat and when she cooked the block the gasket or the freeze plugs could have popped.

not black smoke, just smoke that smells that oil burning. there is a lot of oil around the bolts that sit behind the black bar

A freeze plug is a cheap and easy thing to replace, but it's very labor intensive because you have to remove half the stuff in the engine bay. Some of mine rusted out, and that's why I was borrowing jeeps for almost three weeks. Keep in mind, though, that I had a friend doing the work on mine in between his other jobs so it wasn't a priority for him. It could be a one or two day project, easily.

All you guys heading to yards through out the weeks anybody seen any FJ cruisers? I am building a console and for the life of me cannot find a ball type inclinometer with roll and pitch in the same ball. The two yards I go to around me dont have any... Keep your eyes peeled would ya?
