Well I managed to get the rear axle all back together.
Im due for an emissions test but have had a light on the dash with a trouble code for evap leaks. I replaced a severely rusted fuel line between the tank end the evap canister hoping that would be the problem. When I started the engine I noticed a little stumble then the strong smell of gas. It was dumping fuel from the top of the tank. I had to drop the tank and found the fuel supply tube on the pressure regulator was broken and leaking like a squirter.

I developed a knocking sound when breaking then noticed a wobble in the tire. Started out just replacing the bearing but the axle shaft was bent.

So a few issues after my first day of driving....
1) Gauges are intermittent...apparently common on 97+ XJ's and TJ's...gotta pull the cluster and clean the connections and then put some dielectric grease on them
2) Rear hatch does not open from the outside...I knew this...gotta open from the inside and fix the mechanism
3) Oil pressure is reading low...he used FRAM...uggg...lol...but it is more than that. Almost like it is reading backwards...it goes up as it warms....probably the sender
4) The aux fan is missing...just gone...not there....and no electrical connector evident either...lol....WTF?
These are all small things though. I am sure I will find more...but so far they will all be easy fixes.

Oh...and found a stock manual XJ sunroof for sale for $60....I just always have to have one....it's a thang with me.
