Then you can charge the system to an exact amount. The XJ took 20 ounces of R134.
If it was topped off then that means there is a leak.
If it shutting off on a pressure switch it is seen in the gauges. If pressures look good then jump out one switch at a time. or test with a meter to see whats cutting it off. Is the compressor clutch still spinning or is it truly being shut off?

So, driving home from VA, coming up 50, I pass a white XJ broken down on side of road. Decide to stop and lend a hand. By the time I get over, I'm 1 1/2 miles past where he is. I turn on my hazards, throw it in reverse, and back up the shoulder. I get up to the guy, he was overheating. He said his lower radiator house busted, and he had replaced it, but needed water. I usually carry a gallon jug of water in back of my XJ, and today I did have some. "Did", right before leaving to come home, I took it out and poured it all over me to rinse off, due to being hot and sweaty. My dad asked if I wanted to refill it, I said no, that I would just wait til I returned home. Luckily the guys wife was already on her way with a jug of water.

Dad said they drained the Camaro's transmission, and the fluid looked old. But not just old fluid...it looked like old motor oil.

Also found out today that I am too old for slip and slides. Made an awesome 30' long slip and slide for my daughter and nephew. 30' roll of plastic, garden hose with nozzle set on "mist", and some Carnauba car wax with a set of padding at the bottom and a pool of water. Couldn't help but join in, was fun while doing it, but not even an hour after stopping, was sore and progressively feeling more. Can't wait for what tomorrow brings in soreness. Can't wait to do it again tho...
