Ok so I want everyone's opinion/setup/vids if you have them on modified exhaust. I have looked through Youtube for about the past 3 hours and cant make up my mind. I hate not hearing my exhaust but I dont want it to sound like **** or be obnoxiously loud. I know Dukie and a few others are running FM muffs along with other stuff and they sound real good. So I am thinking 2.5 pipe, FM 40 or 44 and a high flow cat... thoughts?

I would do the FM 44 (offroad edition), get 2.5" piping, and a good cat. I only have the stock pipe and a super 40 and it sounds ok. I wish it had a deeper sound to it, and what I just said is what I'm going to redo it eventually. I would wait until you have personally heard it though. even good quality youtube videos don't do justice. just wait until a M&G to listen to what some people have and then make your decision

I actually run a Walker and it sounds great. Of course...I have other secrets in my exhaust that I can neither confirm nor deny. I like very throaty and quiet, so you just get a hint. I hate resonating at speed. I feel I have achieved this.

Sounds like you're in a good position then. Good luck!

Mickey - IRO has a HnT with a refurbished driveshaft for 200, would that be a good option? I would consider upgrading later, but for now budget isn't so big. as far as the new style T-case. would a 99 XJ have that?

Like Frosty said, hack-n-taps work pretty well, and yeah you have a new style TC so you don't have to worry about the aft flange or messing with the seal. Only reason I like full kits is because you don't have to worry about drilling off center or tapping the threads crooked. No messing with the stock output, just replace the whole thing with a HD output and call it a day. Plus, if you're output splines are worn or your output bearing is going bad it gives you the opportunity to replace everything with better ****. Like Frosty posted earlier, PORC has a full kit for 168, then score a XJ front shaft from CR for a few bucks and you're still below or right around the price of a hack-n-tap, and no drilling required. It's all what you want to do though bud, either will work fine if done right.

I got my AA SYE kit and 3/4 ton drive shaft for 180 from a guy that only ran it for about a month before totaling his XJ, so deals are out there too.

I have 2.5 all the way back with a stock cat and a thrush muffler with a 2.5 drop off the back. Sounds nice at low rpm's and decent at highway speed. When I get on it though, then she screams. Kinda like it though.

Let's hope in the background check, they don't stumble across this forum/thread
