160 is plenty as long as your battery is working properly. Its a give and take, if you have a huge battery you dont necessarily need a huge alternator and vice versa. I have a 180 amp alternator on my F100 and it does fine charging a 900 amp and a 1200 amp battery while powering two compressors and an electric fan and the ignition system but that is somewhere around three times the load then what you are going to have with a sub/amp setup. Using a Capacitor? Amps are more of a sudden burst of power then a steady draw.

that seems like a **** ton of stuff to power. i just want a normal sized battery with a bigger alternator. the only ones i found online were mostly 160 amps.

plenty, if you notice your lights dimming when the bass hits just wire in a capacitor between the amp and the battery.

Anyone know of a better place to get the parts?
if you go autozone - make sure to get the "Gold" pads, all the other ones are crap.

if you go advance auto you can order online (and pick up in store for free), and you can use a coupon code to get a crapload of money off the parts. I do it all the time.

make sure you get the right size and type though - they used a few different combos (cast or composite)
