most groups of wheelers on the island are pretty "clicky"... but if you have a lifted anything on LI you already have a group of friends that have the same sort of rig as you, amirite?

a NYS green key is $24 and the outer beach permit is $94 at any county park such as smiths point green key is good for 2 years beach permit is good for one...night fishing permit you apply for after you get outer beach permit you dont need to pay for salt water fishing license its free at dicks or any other sporting goods stores but you do need to register to get one issued to you fresh water is not free... if you go on the beach at night you are required to have fishing equipment for each person with you....so you know ahead of time
you also need/must have
full size spare
jack
jackboard
tow rope/strap
first aid kit
portable air compressor
tire gauge
fire extinguisher
shovel
...i think thats the whole list
these items have to be with you at all times, park police can request to see them whenever they like and if you dont have it you can be ejected from park or fined...
if you plan on spending alot of time on the beach i would make sure all your maintenance is up to date all your fluids are fresh(diffs/t-case/tranny etc) and going over the bottom getting rid of rust and sealing everything up with a good rubberized undercoat to prevent corrosion...that salty air and salty sand ruins **** quickly...
not a bad idea to have a CB either

I know you can buy the outer beach permit at some camping parks (such as Cathedral Pines) that aren't even near a beach. It's convenient if it's closer than driving out to Smith's Point or something if you only plan on getting a pass. Also I believe the green key is valid for 3 years.
