The technology has gotten much better. The dry cel units are much more efficient and Potassium Hydroxide is a much better catalyst then the baking soda you probably used in the 8th grade (that's what i used). With the newer setups you can use the same catalyst for weeks and just keep adding distilled water.

I did use baking soda and I honestly want to try it. If its really cheap, I may try it out soon, but ill probably try the propane this week because that seems much easier

My 96 4.0L Auto 140k. I added tinted windows, rear wiper, overhead console, sound bar, leather seats, fog lights, and rear defrost window all from pick n pull yards and front tow hooks from c4x4 fabrication. 2" lift 30x9.5x15 tires and TJ Wrangler Canyon 15x8 rims.

It's such a shame the 96 country I had was so rusty... Only 104k miles and every option available. But the floors were gone. Some punk kid used it as a surf mobile and never sprayed it down afterwards

Yeah both my Jeeps have floor pan rust issues. In need of some patch work in front and the rear cargo areas in the back corners. Bought second Jeep so I could start working on floors one at a time and still have a ride. Couldn't pass up a cheap Cherokee with only 90k.

I totally agree. I picked up my 96 for next to the nothing. The guy said the rust just scared everyone off. I wasn't scared! I ended up doing some routine maintenance fixed things up here and there on it and sold it for 1550

So this weekend i changed my t-stat. my heat wasn't hot enough. so i did that and it took an hr to burp out the system. i still have to drive her around, but i think i got it. the heat is alot better.

Anyway, i went to do just a quick front brake pad swap just to get me through for a few weeks. i need new rotors.

So while i was there i inspected my caliper pistons. and sure enough they are both slightly cracked...wtf. i guess after 14 years i should expect it and thats fine, but damn it!!!

the good news is new calipers only cost 20. bucks after the cores are returned. and thats with a limited lifetime waranty. so thats good.

So my point is; check you calipers gentlemen. they are cheap and very important...haha..duh..

So if anyone remembers me complaining about a popping sound when I turn left I finally got around to fixing it. My steering was really loose and whenever I turned left, there was a horrible popping or clicking and I could actually feel it. It got really bad the other day so I checked all the bolts and what do you know, the trac bar was loose like I suspected. Gave it 3 tight turns and what a world of difference it made. Tightened my steering up and I feel safer driving it. Just a little story with a happy ending for y'all

I'm glad you posted this. I'm going to doing my brakes soon and I think I'm going going to do the calipers and wheels cylinders just for piece of mind. Especially if the calipers are that cheap. In all my years I've just never had to replace one on my jeeps.
