Default Any help from forum members please?

Hey,

I'm new to this forum and the jeep world in general. I picked up my first 96 cherokee the other week and decided to do some mild mods to it. Only problem is that I don't really have the know how, tools, or best location to do any of this work.

Right now the jeep is stock. I am considering purchasing the 3" RC lift, some 31s, and then having my fenders cut to fit them properly.

Is there anyone in the area who would be willing to help do some work on this? I live in Towson, MD but I'd be willing to drive if somebody wants to help. I could bring buddies of mine as well, but most of us live in apartments where we have no garage and no place to work at. If anyone is interested at all please let me know. I haven't ordered any of the parts yet because I wanted to see how the help would be off the forum...I don't want to pay shops to do work that me and some friends could do. So please just respond here on the thread.

Thanks!

Ben

I'm in Hagerstown, MD. So i'm pretty far away, but I could lend a hand. I have all the tools needed, just no garage. I just did my 3" RC lift in my driveway.

Well any drive seems to be worth it for me since installation shops want to charge more than the lifts are worth :-/ I personally don't have any helpful knowledge to bring to the table if anyone like scbmx87 is willing to let me take the jeep to them. I do have buddies who are willing to help but most of us haven't done our own lift before.

scbmx87, do you think you know how to do the lift? Because I would like to purchase this lift sometime soon, but am afraid to have it sit at my house for months because I don't have the cash to pay a shop lol.

Btw, this is the kit I have been considering: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3-Sus...ht_3515wt_1153

Anyone out there have any issues with it? I've been told a transfer drop case and/or control arms should be used..

Thanks,

Ben

OK well I'm willing to go anywhere to whoever's place honestly. As soon as I can figure out which kit to buy off online I'll get it then you guys can tell me which location is best for anyone who wants to help :-)

Do you guys recommend http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUSPE...#ht_4990wt_927

or the first link I posted? Looking for the best deal on a 3" kit, but don't quite know the ropes to figure it out for myself.

Thanks again guys

I wouldn't buy the first kit due to it using blocks instead of an add a leaf. Get this one...http://roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3.html Join jeepforum.com and PM Rough Country. You get a 10% discount for being a jeep forum member. I didnt have to do a t-case drop or aftermarket control arms. You asked for pics, i dont have many since the install but here's a few.

nice pix. I thought the first kit though had rear add a leafs? In the description it says that's what it uses in the rear.

You don't need to cut the fenders with 31s and 3in lift.

the ads both said max tire sixe 31 10.5 so i would say if u run bigger than that u will have to do some trimming.

Well with 32s you will have a little rubbing in twists, and over 31 you should switch to 4.11 gears.

I'm probably the closest to you so far in Newark de. I have all the tools in my garage and some extra if we run into problems. I'm off Tuesdays and Thursday next week. Usually off the middle of the week (tues, wed, thurs) and just work on the jeep anyway. You wanna come up your more than welcome. Just let me know. In my opinion on which loft you should get, I can't say about the second or third, but def don't get the first.

On second thought, go wigh the RC 3". Best price and it's a well known name. If I had to choose, that's my choice. But it's not my money.
