In order to weld it, you need nickel rods and make sure the metal is really clean.

Gonna grab a d30 from the junkyard either tomorrow or friday. If I get one from a ZJ with V8 will it bolt into my XJ? Or would I be better off getting one from an XJ and then getting the tie rod, etc from the ZJ?

doesnt matter what engine... just get one with the same gears as your rear... if you want a ZJ tie rod buy one new... not from a JY... i grabbed mine cause they were already on the knuckle and brand new moogs... still busted them when taking them off though to do the otk flip... pissed... lol

They are steel if I'm not mistaken. I ain't no welder but I know you can weld them with flux core of you really wanted to.

With the ride, sounds good. Gives me time to grab a sub for lunch. I'm about 40 minutes away or so. Looking forward to it.

not saying that its right but i weld cast with my hobart 140 with flux wire and never had a problem yet... matter of time maybe but cut up high and it being flux it burns way hotter so never had a problem... every other builder in the world will tell ya all kinds of tricks with sand and all this or itll never work but whatever...
