Welp, I'm pretty much out of commission for an extended period of time.
I still dont know what let go, but after re-intsalling the transmission, took it for a test drive. On the highway, the Jeep started bogging down, loosing power, went for another gear, maintained speed but started fading. The temp gauge sensor had popped off while the motor was rocking back & forth from the trans install, so I reconnected it. It had come off again I suppose, because as I was going, it started billowing coolant. Looked down at the gauge, which was dead.
Damnit.
Went for another gear to make the 1/8th of a mile to the next off ramp, in between shifts, she died. Coasted to its final spot. Wont refire, won''t even try to build compression. Very disappointed.
Gonna tow it home tomorrow to survey the damage, then start figuring out another vehicle to get around in. The Jeep is now on the back burner I guess.
No meets or Jeep Beach for me this year.
