I used to think highly of the Detroits until I was given the CATs and Yanmars. The HEMITT and LET are essentially the same vehicle except my CAT powered LET will yank that HEMITT all over the place, without even trying.

Are 1151s we got, which where new (referbs from Kuwait) when we got there. 9 out of 12 of are trucks were all deadlined after doing the first or second pmcs. Lol they still had the old 6.2 i think non turbos models. biggest pos. Drive line issues, cooling issues. Brake issues. Damn doors had issues that dead linded them. Like anything you can think if that could dead line a military vechical. Almost every one of them had them with in the first month of us getting are "new" trucks.

We still had the Chevy CUCV when I was in. The MUTT's were being side lined for the new incoming Hummers. I trained on the .45 as well as the old M16a1. The new at the time MRE's were god awful compared to today's. We used shelter halves and slept in the mud with the critters. Radio I carried was a PRC77 (***** 77) from Vietnam era, the one with the big antenna that said "shoot me first". Good times

The "buddy tent" as we called them. You had one half, your buddy had the other. Lol. The guys think it's weird that when we go to the field, I set my cot up outside or my hammock. "Don't you know there's all kinds of wildlife out here?! The tent is safe!" ...."Uh..the swamps are my home. I have lived with all these animals my whole life. I think I will be fine."

We don't use the buddy tent anymore. We have those large, vynil sided "outdoor ovens" that shelter 12 a piece. Hell NO do I wanna bake in one that already smells like ball cheese and stale nachos. Lol

Shelter half was the correct term back then. Stowed it on the "Alice" pack and used those metal clips on our war belts before the days of Molle . Do you guys still us canteens and canteen cups? Hell I was issued a steel **** pot, never even saw a Kevlar helmet that I can remember

Got the OS III going again. That new ECU I got from NAPA fried. Good thing I had a spare. My Platoon calls her the BHV (Battle Hardened Veteran) because she won't stay down and die. It's also their inside joke as I've been seriously injured a few times and won't stay down. Like I had a trans an tcase fall on my ribcage and dislocate two ribs. I got up and walked to the medic while laughing, Got thrown out of an LMTV w/full battle rattle on and took damage to three discs in my lower back and I had a mini stroke while on duty and came back to duty a week later. All you can do is laugh. My 10yrs are almost up, then I'm done unless I get a really good offer.
