I'd be more concerned about why just the pistons were changed. If done improperly, you could have scored or cracked cylinder walls.

00 and 01 had the 0331 head that is known to crack. Nothing with wrong with a 98 or 99. I have a 98 head on my 97 and I own a 99 XJ as well.

That is most likely going to be a cracked head.

Here's my **** up for today. Rolled into a canal at the humps. Roof and the whole drivers side Is ****edddddd up. I need a new XJ to do a motor and suspension swap since my motor is new

Haha i agree he should snag it. Could probably get him down to 600-700 easy and the interior looks decent. also only actually has 146K miles on it.

Yeah the more I looked into it and the more I read about the cracked head issues with the 0331 head cracking I decided I didn't feel like doing a full motor swap anytime soon. If I was back home I'd do it in a heart beat and not think twice (access to cheap motors and a shop with a lift).
