Sold my 38s, were a bit much for my XJ. I'm building a 60 to replace my front 44 to match my rear but been thinking bout just building a buggy. Most of the guys I ride with are in buggys on 42s or bigger and it's getting harder to keep up. Prob keep the jeep for the lighter riding. You ever ride Morris Mtn or Choccolocco both are down near you and have some good trails.

i have 6.5 RC kit and with trim i can stuff my 38s good...i would run a long arm for sure if its going to be your DD or get the drop brackets for the short arms so the angle of the control arms are not as bad for ride quality...over all the RC kit has been pretty good as i wheel weekly and DD mine on 38s around town. i have the bastard pack rear springs with 2" blocks and yes it is a little rough but they are leaf springs and nothing rides like coils.

i will be upgrading my set up very soon...so my 6.5 front and 7" rear set up will be up for sale...i am going 8" coils, 4 link rear coils as well...so if anyone is interested make me an offer

I think you're going to want to do at least a 4.88 gear if you're going to running 36" tires.

What's your dad running them with cause I bet it ain't a 4L. I have 4.56s and wish I had 5.13s on the trail. On the road they are OK at best but 4.88s would take me back close to stock with 35s.

better be careful running 14.5 wide i ran some for a while and it did a good number on my uni body , But i also wasn't running a brace then. for the lift i got a rustys about 3 months ago and i am extremely happy with it i installed a rc about the same time and the gauge of the cross member kind of disappointed me but it seemed to be a pretty good set up but my money is on the rustys

Don't think you'll find a shackle that will give you any where near 5" and as for spacers in the front I personally wouldn't go over 3". You'll need lower control arms minimum at that height.
