Jeep xj with jeep wj rear end axle?????
Hey all cf members i have a question today i was thinking on things ill need for my build up coming up but i have this one question that i cant answer maybe one of you guys can?
Anyway
This is my question: Can i use a grand cherokee rear end axle on my cherokee so that i dont have to buy the mounts for my rear axle to convert it to coils instead of leafs. I was thinking on seeing where the original wj axle mounts to its self and see if i can convert those mounts to mine.
Reason being i plan on lifting my cherokee about 8 to 10 inches to fit 37 inch tires (for the trails) and a little mud but i just want to lift my buddy so bad and im not worried about the driveshafts needing to be replaced i found a driveshaft shop who does them insanly cheap
The mods so far on my jeep so you know wat im working on
3.5 inch lift
inline 6
air intake
automatic
1996 xj sport edition
PLz any ideas or answers are greatly appreciated ( im only 18 and have been working with cherokees for 3 years so i have some knowledge on them) lol

You can do it but it is not recommended. I run 36's on stock axles but I don't have gears yet. I have a set of full withs with gears whiting. If I had gears I would brake alot. It is worth paying a welder to do the work then to plane to run like that. Or just buy a cheep little welder and learn. Just use gas not flux core. It turns out better.

The WJ 44 isn't a standard 44. It's a 44a and has limited aftermarket support and isn't set up like a normal 4 link. It uses an upper a arm that pivots on a tie rod end instead of control arms and the tie rod end is a weak link. The only front 44 you will find to match the bolt pattern comes in the JK Rubicon, it's 5on5. What is the front 44 out of and can you get a matching rear from the same vehicle?
