Quote: Hey will, you still got that head? Lol or anybody got a head for a 98 or so mine is cracked. It's hard to see the green between 3&4 but it's there.
you have a 98... not a 00-01... thats the one with the 0331 head prone to cracking... the other head is the same from 91-99

thought you had a 98 cause you asked for one... except it doesnt work that way... the 99- is a distributor head... the 00-01 does not... you need a 02.5 to 04 WJ head...

it does work that way you just have to mount the coil rail differently but I'd say there's a lot more xj heads floating around tha newer wj ones. Obviously not having to use the older intake manifold and hanky coil rail mounting would be better and I'd rather do that if I can find one.

also you may have already damaged the bearings on your crank... ive seen many times a blown head gasket get caught and replaced then 3k later you lose the bottom end...

im well aware lol I don't have money for a motor right now though. If I can find a head for a decent price I can be back on the road for a lot less than a new motor.

yea I know but right now I can't put a motor in it I just ain't got the cash I don't know what a used head goes for... I'd say maybe around 200? And about 125 for gaskets bolts oil ect. And I haven't had pushrod issues since i changed all of the pushrods and the rocker pivots like 8-10 k ago.

exhaust ports are different as well... ive had a blown 0331 head and bought a Tboned 04 WJ... installed its motor and parted the rest out and made all my money back on both the tboned WJ and the blown motor WJ... then sold the running WJ for $4500...
